IB Psychology Summer Video Project

Please comment here as to which video most influenced you this summer.  Which one was the most interesting, most horrific, least dull, or overall the most well done.  Why did you prefer this video (or video series) to others?

  1. I would probably say that Freud's Psychosexual Stages was by far the best video because it was hilarious. The information was presented in a way that captures the audience's attention and was easy to understand. Also I had not known any of this information beforehand.

  2. By far, the best one for me was "Dreams-When Do We Dream?". When they showed the cats and dogs sleep-hunting, my mind was bottled instantaneously. The whole "REM sleep essentially paralyzes us and junk" was something I had never even thought about before.

  3. My favorite video was "Twins: Nature or Nurture?" I thought it was interesting how twins change over time. Even if they are identical, whenever they grow they start to look more and more different. It's also interesting how environments change the personalities of people.

  4. To me, the schizophrenia videos stood out the most. In the videos it had the voices and showed what the visions are like and it really put me in the mind of a person with this disorder. It really opened my eyes to schizophrenia and made me more aware.

  5. While I have always found the topic of dreams to be thoroughly fascinating (I've read tons of articles about them), I'd have to say that the most gripping video depicted Erik Erikson's 8 stages of psychosocial development. I realized that I look at life in much the same way; as a series of challenges to overcome or tests to pass (or fail), as opposed to a jumble of inevitable situations. Naturally I find Freud's theories utterly revolting and inconsequential.

  6. I am pretty much caught between the Dream video and the Psychology rap video. I would have to say though, the Dream video caught my attention more, especially when researchers did the experiment on the cats and dogs, removing part of the brain. I probably will remember more about the results of the experiment than the contents of other videos.

  7. Bits and pieces of many of the videos influenced me this summer; some amazed me, others were a little boring, and some even had me diagnosing myself. But one video that stood out to me the most was “Psychology of Belief, Part 3: Confirmation Bias.” The topic explained was something I had thought of one day as just a wondering thought. After watching this video, I backtracked and watched the others in the series to learn more about what this particular individual had to say. At times, the editor was rather bold in his statements, but it was interesting, nonetheless, to know of their ideas.

  8. The three videos that had the greatest effect on me where the two about schizophrenia, which quite frankly scared the crude out of me if was just mind boggling and creepy. I just could NOT imagine what living like that would be like, and I hope I never have to experience it. The other one that was just kinda funny to me was the one where the epically boring guy with the accent actually was enjoyable, "Relax" *BANG* :D I just enjoyed the fact the it actually seemed like he finally enojyed what he did for a living.

  9. Hey y'all, I hope this works because I am not a techy person :|
My favorite video was "The Id, the Ego, and the Superego" because its was both amusing and very helpful. The visuals really helped me associate those three with what they mean. For example....the id is some evil and ugly part of our brain that apparently looks and behaves like some disastrous mixture of Toby, Curtis, and the Swamp Monster. I really enjoyed this video, it was the least boring of all of them to me but that doesn't really say a whole lot. Sorry Higgins (: "Kill! Kill the old lady!!"

    Love,
    Sydney :D

  11. I have to say that the video that caught my attention the most was "Psychology on Decision Making" because it not only happens to me, but to all of us in making a decision. Asking ourselves questions like, "what should I pick? Will people make fun of me if I pick this and not that?"...etc. or we don't want to make a bad decision...

  12. My favorite video was definitely the one where the hot teacher came in and talked to the students and then the students were recorded when the teacher left the room. I related to it because i would've done the exact same thing. It made me think about how psychology can be applied into even small things that i do everyday.

  13. my favorite video would have to be the reacap rap video. that beats were sick, and the flow was nasty. but seriously, it summed up all the key concepts and main ideas, i highly recommend we do a remix with T-bizzle, C money, Dro, waka flaka flame, the higgmiester, SYDs, Becks, and tha higmiester on the ones and twos. the video really brought all the things i learned from past videos together, and it all made sense.

  14. I really like the Psychology on Decision Making video because I can really relate to it, me being an indecisive person. I think that it is interesting about how many decisions we make each and every day, and it made me wonder about how I came to the decision to join IB.

  15. I thought that the video about REM sleep and dreaming was very interesting, as well as informative. It's amazing that they were able to pinpoint exactly when we have these vivid dreams. Also, the experiment with that cat dreams was somewhat saddening for me, because of the fact that they had part of their brains surgically removed... But it was interesting
    nonetheless.

  16. I believe the Group Pressure and Conformity video was the most interesting to me because of the way they choose to create it. Compared to other videos where you get old men or doctors who have the tendency to talk and talk and talk to the point of blah. Or also some videos that are just plain confusing and weird. Yes, their acting was quite bad but it still caught my attention and gave me interesting information about a topic I did not know about.

  18. Hey. I know that I'm posting a little late but anyway.... My favorite video was the one where you get to see all of the optical allusions. The ones where you got to see stuff after watching was really cool.
